Founded in 2012, Reflektor Theatre is one of Serbia’s leading independent theatre companies, creating socially engaged performances that inspire dialogue on the issues shaping contemporary society.
For the past thirteen years, every new production has meant starting from scratch, finding a stage, adapting to different technical conditions and rehearsing in temporary spaces. Even so, we have built a vibrant programme of socially engaged theatre, festivals and public events that have brought together artists, young people and audiences across Serbia and the region.
At a time when independent cultural spaces are disappearing, democratic dialogue is increasingly under pressure, and artists and civil society organisations face growing challenges, we believe that creating and protecting spaces for free expression is more important than ever.
REFLEKTOR SPACE changes that. It will be a permanent home for our work and an open platform for independent artists, theatre companies, cultural organisations and civic initiatives that today struggle to find affordable, professional space in Belgrade.
